My daughter will be…

“I’ve got two daughters who will have to make their way in this skinny-obsessed world, and it worries me, because I don’t want them to be empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones; I’d rather they were independent, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, original, funny – a thousand things, before ‘thin’. And frankly, I’d rather they didn’t give a gust of stinking chihuahua flatulence whether the woman standing next to them has fleshier knees than they do. Let my girls be Hermiones, rather than Pansy Parkinsons. Let them never be Stupid Girls.”

    • That’s so sweet — mother/daughter relationships are so special & I can only imagine how you feel when you think of her accomplishments. Probably so proud you could burst:)

  1. Well, I have news for you. You can be hot and smart at the same time. Being in shape is important and I only like girls that both. Also, I’m both.

    • Absolutely. But women aren’t perfect & some might enjoy reading a book with some tea vs. going to the gym

I think women are beautiful in their own unique ways, that’s what makes us special:) I’m happy you are both and that you are proud of you who you are — that is excellent.

  2. Another reason to LOVE JK Rowling! I read the other day that the reason she isn’t in on the ‘richest’ list right now is because of her MASSIVE donations to charity. She was a mother struggling to make ends meet and used the food bank. Now she has given something like 200 MILLION dollars to help families in need. What a lady!

    • That is such a hard way to see yourself at a young age — I’m sorry that your situation was like that. I hope that you now know how incredible you are, the perfect you. xoxo

  3. Reblogged this on Spotts in the Valley of the Sun and commented:
J.K. Rowling hits it out of the park on this point. I got the exact opposite messagse as I was growing up. If I had daughters, I would frame this quote and hang it on the wall, to ensure they saw it every day and didn’t forget that there are thousand of things that make them valuable, and they should never hang their worth on their size.

    • John, I am sure you are an incredible father & grandfather — I imagine you are quite proud of your girls, as you should be!!:) I have faith that people are beginning to see this positive way of thinking.
