I’m craving cool nights next to the campfire.Tinfoil dinners and whiskey on the rocks. Black coffee that is rich and hot. Early morning hikes into the unknown as the sun creeps up and starts the day. Nothing but blues and raspy folk music alongside mother natures song.
My mom took me camping when I was 6 months old, and I’ve had a deep love for it ever since. I like the fact that when you’re camping you lose track of time and simply listen to your bodies clock. I like waking up and putting a hoodie on over top of some long johns and my favorite warm socks. I love letting my messy hair and bare skin soak up the fresh air. Naps and snacks and telling stories you typically would keep to yourself while in the city.
I love the challenges that sometimes come up. When you have to make do because you forgot to pack something, or it suddenly starts pouring rain and you weren’t prepared to be protected from the hot and heavy showers. So you laugh and do what you can, but sometimes all that consists of is dancing in the rain until it stops.
Life is sweet when it’s spent outdoors with people you love, disconnected from the buzz of your hometown and to-do lists.
“Now I see the secret of making the best person: it is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.” ― Walt Whitman
I’d like a coolish night by a fire. I miss them too – in my backyard, but still. It’s cozy and romantic. Sure, I could do it now, but I’d have to put wood in the oven for a while first!
It just might be worth it ;)
Haha maybe
I do miss my camping days, so much more peaceful than city life :)
It really is. You should go!
Ah. The simple life. Away from the hustle and bustle of a mad, mad world.
Sounds great to me. :-D
Me too, I am so excited for the weather to warm up so that I can start planning trips to the mountains. So peaceful.
Cabin fever has been doing its rounds. Time to bust out. :-)
Stop stop stop! I’m going stir crazy now sitting at this desk!
My mom took us camping often too and I love the same tings about it that you mentioned above. I especially love camping in the pines because waking up to that fresh air and pine smell is heaven. The exploration, the richness of the air, the beauty that surrounds me, and the feeling of adventure when I’m away from the masses of people, buildings, and cars, it’s unbeatable. Camping is my tropical vacation, it trumps just about anything else in this life.
I couldn’t agree more. However, I wouldn’t be mad if I had my toes in the sand somewhere on a beach ;)
I live close to the beach, so I get to do that often. But yea, when I lived farther awy beach camping sounded great too!
