As many of you know, Andy announced that he will be getting me a kitten for my Valentines day present. Obviously love-day has passed but I want the perfect little baby & that takes time. I searched as soon as we got home from our over night get away but couldn’t find a single kitten. It’s just not ‘Kitten season’ so I am going to be patient & wait until a sweet little love is in need of adoption. I want to rescue instead of buy from a breeder. If you haven’t already seen this blog that was freshly pressed, do it. Even if you don’t want to admit that you like cats… Your heart will feel all tingly & warm inside & I won’t even tell anybody.
I’ve decided his name will be Roman. Hopefully he’ll be black & run sideways across our floor or as I like to say “do the spooky cat” when he’s hyper.
I decided I’m going to be a parent who lets him express himself however he’d like — that’s really important for kids these days.
As of 2011 there are over 4 million gay & lesbian people in America. My question is, how can anybody say they don’t have the right to create a family of their own? There are over 100,000 children in foster care who are waiting to be adopted. It amazes me that so many people can overlook these statistics (& children in need of homes) and put religion before what is simply RIGHT.
I know so many outstanding gay and lesbian people who would be able to give a child an amazing home. What makes a man and a woman any better parents then two women, or two men? I honestly feel like people get their panties in a bunch about gay marriage/adoption more then they do about things like polygamy & child abuse. But wait, how exactly does that work? If anything, a child raised by a gay couple will be taught to love with no limits, to respect all walks of life, and that love comes in all different forms. It is not about who raises you, it is about how they raise you. It hurts me that our world works like this… I hope to someday be able to make a difference when it comes to this problem. Until then I will continue raising awareness & loving EVERYBODY. Not just people who live by my ‘Right & Wrongs’.
