Enjoying the Tangible

[ now playing ‘momma’s music’ ]

Its pouring outside today & I can’t quite find the sun’s hiding spot in the sky. That’s okay, because I’ve decided to stop looking for what’s missing & begin enjoying the tangible. I love the rain because it forces me to seek the sunshine in my life. Cheers to you being one of the many beautiful rays that shine light in this life of mine! Wahoo! Thank you for being here. (if you care, I cheers’d with my cup of joe;)

Last night I went to sleep next to my love in our brand new bed (my sweet Andy truly spoils me) and I woke up to the best news ever! After 14 weeks of pushing myself harder than I ever have at school I finally have results: I received my first A on an article!!! Many may laugh at this because A’s might be your average — but an ‘A’ to me means I’m finally getting it. I am LEARNING! My professor doesn’t give A’s often, so I am absolutely ecstatic. This is what I woke up to at 5:45 a.m.  “Wake up! Smell the coffee! Enjoy the ‘A’ you got on your week 12 paper!!!!”

Last night I told Kelsey how frustrated I was with myself and my performance at school — I’d be lying if I said giving up never crossed my mind. This ‘A’ has given me the confidence to fight through the last part of finals, or as Professor LaPlante calls it, ‘The Crucible’.

.

Anyway, I just realized I need to stop blogging about it & be about it – I’ve got class in an hour!

Birds’ n Bods

Sometimes when my third alarm goes off and I know it’s do or die for the day I just lie there and think to myself…. “Nobody would know… If I just called the entire day off. Just ONE DAY. That’s ALLLL I WANT.”

Yeah. That’s how much I hate early mornings, so trying to get me up early before work to WORKOUT is often a good joke that ends in some last minute zzz’s. I loved this article (click text) and the tips it gave for fitting in an early ass kicking to start your day with. Early morning workouts always boost my day. Plus, you’re buzzin’ before anyone in the office gets their coffee!

Turns out the early bird does gets the worm — and, with hard work & dedication, a strong body.

Oh and boys…. if you need to practice soccer, or anything in this case, & need to do so in your tighty whitey’s by allll means please, let us know! We’re huge fans. (Ladies, I’m speaking for all of us… I’ll just assume that’s okay for today)

Learning From Others

Well hi beautiful!! How are you on this delicious Wednesday? Really though, I want to know. This blog was created by me but inspired by you open up to me! We have some new readers this week & I am so happy you are here. Nothing like a new friend in the blogosphere to make my day. I don’t know about other blogs, but around here we are like a family — you can discuss things dear to your heart without being judged. I’m excited to hear from all of you:)

This morning I didn’t follow my regular routine; Instead, I got up at 7:00 & snuggled with Roman on the couch with the windows wide open. We watched the sunrise & I think it’s my new favorite thing! What’s better then rising with the sun? It was absolutely beautiful.

Today I’m focusing on doing a karma Cleanse, would you like to join me? There are 5 steps:

  • Be grateful
  • Act with love
  • Check your motives
  • Watch your attitude
  • Forgive

Last night I started thinking: Why do some women instantly act ugly when another beautiful woman walks in the room? You are both beautiful… Celebrate it together!! Empowered women can shake the world if we choose to do it together. I believe that it starts with being nice.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to hate someone because they have something you are working towards for yourself. Trust me honey, hating someone for their success doesn’t make your journey towards your personal success any easier. In fact, when you see someone that has the things you desire, look to them for advice! Do it your way, but get tips from others who have figured out what works for them. It might not work for you, but finding things you don’t enjoy often leads you to things that you loveJani tweeted this to me and I want to share it with you (follow her if you don’t already, she’s hilarious): “Indeed mentors often come dressed in the wardrobe you desire. #nohate

Just a bit of food for your thoughts this morning. It’s gorgeous outside here in Logan today and I feel too good to stay in & blog — I’ll do that when the sun goes down. Until then, follow this link to the last thing I am dying to share for the day. (I also went to my first Crossfit class this morning & I can’t wait to tell you about it!)

Take Your Baby by the Hand

Yesterday I spent a couple hours in bed after work with some weird bug. Andy brought me Kneaders & I soon realized how much some solid food and rest can do for a girl (one of those “duh” moments). Shortly after I was up and at it around the house. The next 4 weeks will be a bit chaotic around here because it is the end of the semester. Having my home in a good state should contribute to the fight for sanity during finals.

I’d say I’m ‘trying to get my wardrobe organized‘… but lets be real, when am I not trying to get my wardrobe organized?? It’s a year round, never-ending thing. All of my girlfriends know what I’m talking about… They’ve all been over for bags of clothes that my ass outgrew or the 6 shirts I bought because ‘they match my shoes’  (that I don’t need & that look exactly alike). But sometimes you’re left with some gems & those clothes are just too pretty to keep hidden in the closet — which is why the clothes rack was invented. Mine is coming along and I am quite pleased with it. Someday when I’m not too ghetto to buy the wooden hangers I will. But that day is not today.

[ since those with droids have instagram now, add me! username: commanderinchic ]

I hit a wall at about 11:30 and that’s when I found Andy in the kitchen. He had been setting his computer up for work & finally got his speakers to work. Wang Chung was blasting & you could tell he was trying so hard not to break out in a full on dance (he was doing the slow & discreet foot shuffle while his arms swung back n’ forth a bit. hilarious)

__________

Next thing you know we’re dancing in the kitchen to ‘Dance Hall Days’ while he twirls me around in my painting/cleaning clothes & sings along to every word. We almost made it through the whole song but our asses are out-of-SHAPE (& we both needed a drink)

We of course played Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd  & Can’t You See by the Marshall Tucker Band. I’m convinced these are the moments that true love is found, over & over again. Happy Friday sweets, I hope you take the time to dance with someone you love this weekend. Even if it’s just a bit of shufflin’ & swinging of the arms. It’ll feel good, I promise.

Good Girls Don’t Grow On Trees

Alright, can I get a hell yeah for Cris Cab? He is my new favorite artist (besides Frank Ocean, of course) I’m still browsing through his music to make sure it’s love and not lust. Either way one thing’s for sure, I am definitely in full on ‘like’ with Cris Cab.

The opening lyrics to his song “Good Girls” is:

“Hey man, I’ve learned my lesson
Got a good girl, count your blessings”

But what really stole my heart was this:

“good girls don’t grow on trees”

Oh hi, I’m sold! I love that because it is so true. It is so hard to find a partner that can give & understand the unique love your heart desires. We are all different therefore we all need different types of love. Unfortunately honesty, respect, patience, trust and kindness are becoming less important; The definition of a “healthy relationship” is very misunderstood to the men & women of my generation. Many of us have forgotten what it really means to love and be loved.

______________

I do know one thing — Any woman will tell you this: a good man is hard to find & even harder to keep. I’m sure of it, because my town has an abnormal amount of douche-bags-in-diesels and a lack of gentlemen (not that I’m looking, but they’re everywhere! it scares me. ) But it goes the same for men, because like Cris Cab says, good girls don’t grow on trees. We have to honor, cherish, and embrace the beautiful relationships and love we have in our lives. Surround yourself with people that make you feel excited — I can honestly say I have people in my life that make my stomach feel like a million fireflies are having a freaking fiesta in there. Absolutely electric. They encourage me to be the best woman I can be. Because of those people I believe in my dreams and I’m brave enough to do anything & everything in order to reach them. Those are the kind of people we all deserve to have in our lives.

At the end of the day this is my opinion, so as my grandmother says “take it, leave it, file it away, or never look at it again”. Alls I’m sayin’ is I encourage you to be picky about one thing: the type of love/people you choose to surround yourself with.

It can change your life.

Didn’t feel a drop

Today I’d like to sit beneath an umbrella and kiss until the rain stops; Then we can go inside & laugh about how we didn’t feel a drop. How special is it to have someone to do such silly things with and not have it feel silly at all.

I love you Andy. I can’t wait for you to come home.

All my love, Honey

Never felt so beautiful

After the sun discontinued it’s lovely light supply through our windows I decided to take a step outside. I stood on my porch barefoot with a naked face & a baggy t-shirt on. At that moment I realized I couldn’t recall the last time I felt so beautiful; Yet I had nothing to do with the beauty I was experiencing. Logan sunsets will do that to you.
