Sweet boys with good habits

Something that makes me happy:

The eight-year-old twin boys that walk their two wiener dogs past my house every single day. I’m convinced their mum wont let them out of the house until their dragon ball-z t-shirts are tucked into their jeans that don’t quite reach their ankles because they sit an inch or four above their belly buttons. And their matching velcroe tennis shoes are a must, because they pull everything together like a perfectly tied bow.

(this lovely woman took this photo of Dexter the Wiener dog)

The not-so-sentimental thing that makes me happy:

Closing my eyes while I quietly inhale pink, exhale grey, & pretend that this is my closet.

Also, when I play make believe these are my wooden kitchen utensils too. (they will be mine in real life next time I have arts & crafts time)

What makes you happy?

All my love, Bee

Coloring outside of the lines

I can’t get over these darling chalkboard eggs. I found the idea on the blog Oleander and Palm. Dying eggs has always been a favorite of mine and I have searched for new ideas each year but this is one of the best yet. Oleander and Palm even painted rocks with chalkboard paint and kept them as a centerpiece. I’m all about fresh new idea’s and can’t wait to see what all of you think about them, too. If you need another creative idea take a look at the eggs I shared a back in January or try this idea. Never too early to plan for a beautiful Holiday such as Easter. All my love, Bee

A potion for Spring

I have really wanted to share this concoction that can make it feel a little more like Spring in your home with a few simple ingredients. Unfortunately, I was not able to find all of the ingredients at my local grocery store, so I will share in high hopes that you will be able to find what you’ll need.

(Thank you to “One more moore” where I found this lovely potion)

You need a small stockpot filled about 2/3 full with water. 1 lemon, sliced, and a few sprigs of rosemary. Then add 1-2 tsp of vanilla. Add water throughout the day as needed. You can keep the same mixture for around 2 days but after that you will need to throw it out.

Ooh the things I’d do for my own herb garden (or my mothers) — Let me know if any of you try it out. Cheers to Spring & the birth of new & beautiful things!

A Quick Recipe & DIY

There are two things I want to give a shot.

One of them is this delicious recipe for Baked Crab Rangoon. I found the best recipe on the blog ‘Iowa Girl Eats’. They don’t look too difficult to put together. Let me know if any of you decide to try them, I’d love to hear how it goes.

The other thing I want to do are these darling glitter easter eggs. Now I know it’s a wee bit early, but you can never plan too far ahead for a holiday. The instructions are on Martha Stewarts site (shocking). They are a no brainer but so beautiful. I’m excited to try these two things & I hope you are too! Enjoy. XOXO

By the way, we are experimenting with new site designs. How are you liking the current look? Is it too complicated or just right? I would love any feedback (good/bad) it helps me a lot. My job is to make Commander in Chic an easy read & accesible to all.

Bubbles & Bins

I want to take a bubble bath, Paint my toes, and then have a siesta with my Winnie boy.

Instead I’m going to continue revamping my out of control closet

“Donate, consignment, storage”

It feels so good to get rid of the things that mean nothing to me. I have so many clothes that just take up space that I don’t really have. Not to mention the fact that I’m a Libra and when we’re given too many options we struggle. I love being organized. I know this picture makes that hard to believe but I really do. Ikea has always been a great friend of mine to say the least. This is what Spring is all about for me, out with the old and nothing new because I have more then I need. Maddy isn’t here to tell me which things are worthy of keeping and what has just got to go. Hopefully I can be strict with myself and realistic about ‘wants’ & ‘needs’.

By the way, I aced my final yesterday! I’m technically done with my Freshman year of college. It feels like a million pounds are off my shoulders. But then I remember that summer semester starts May 16, ha! Oye. It’s okay, I really love school and I am just going to get it done and move forward with my life. Beautiful things will follow, I know it:) I love you dolls! Enjoy the sunshine & all the little things today.
