Sweet boys with good habits

Something that makes me happy:

The eight-year-old twin boys that walk their two wiener dogs past my house every single day. I’m convinced their mum wont let them out of the house until their dragon ball-z t-shirts are tucked into their jeans that don’t quite reach their ankles because they sit an inch or four above their belly buttons. And their matching velcroe tennis shoes are a must, because they pull everything together like a perfectly tied bow.

(this lovely woman took this photo of Dexter the Wiener dog)

The not-so-sentimental thing that makes me happy:

Closing my eyes while I quietly inhale pink, exhale grey, & pretend that this is my closet.

Also, when I play make believe these are my wooden kitchen utensils too. (they will be mine in real life next time I have arts & crafts time)

What makes you happy?

All my love, Bee

I Spy

I adore this DIY clutch from I Spy DIY

Sometimes you don’t need a big bag when you’re at a cocktail party. A clutch is perfect for those kind of events or a day out on the town.  This is super easy to do & inexpensive. Get to it, babes!

Oh, and for the love of god, please paint your nails/fix any chips. If you don’t that will be one of the first things people see. I am guilty of this in the past until I realized how awful it looks and how fun it is to try new nail styles.

xoxo

I also love both of these clutches

Needed: Girlfriends

These are the days when I miss my girlfriends – When I wish they were still just up the street & could come over on a whim. Sometimes crafts like this just aren’t the same without a glass of wine & your sissys. We’re trying to plan a little trip up here for them. If it works, this will be on the agenda.

Ps. wine really would be needed for me to be okay with RIPPING pages out of a book. Especially an old book, because they smell the best & feel so nice every time you turn the page. Yes, I do have a passion for books. Best things in the world.

Need:

  • old bookpages, drawings, maps, woodgrain contact paper, anything paper!
  • mod-podge & a brush
  • jars (make sure you can fit a candle inside them first) or hurricane glass

Step 1 – Rinse out your jars and remove labels. A good way to get labels off is to first fill the jars with hot water, let them soak a few minutes, and while the hot water is in the jar, just peel the label off. Brilliant.

Step 2 – Pick out your pages and glue them with mod-podge onto the jars.

(Here is a recipe for DIY modge podge)

Step 3 – Let your jars dry on wax paper for a few hours.

Step 4 – Do extra decorating if you like – tie ribbon or string around for a little more color!

Step 5 – Put candles in and you’re done. Put them around your house, or set them aside in a box for special occasions.

Blackie-Chans Debut

Today in class I learned how to throw baseballs instead of softballs while I interview someone. I also learned how gorgeous it is everyday at 4:15 (right after class) from the parking garage. The perfect opportunity to take a picture of my favorite tree on our street arose, so I had to share. Then I came home & expressed my crazy craving for Olive Garden – So we went, of course. After dinner we went grocery shopping & swooped some essentials.

One of those essentials was our first pet, Blackie-Chan the fish. I adore him, and I adore my cute boyfriend for being just as excited as I am (or at least pretending to be). He’s such a good boy, he doesn’t even bark. We love him.

Then I dove into this months ‘O’  magazine & a full glass of vino. Oh, and expressed my ADHD on my nails, by removing yesterdays color & changing to this..

Letters: ‘Did You ‘Ear About Van Gogh?’

I’m always for a little twist on holiday style. Valentines day is so soon, and I can’t wait to spend it with the love of my life. Sending you love tonight, readers. Thank you. Until next time, xoxo B

A Quick Recipe & DIY

There are two things I want to give a shot.

One of them is this delicious recipe for Baked Crab Rangoon. I found the best recipe on the blog ‘Iowa Girl Eats’. They don’t look too difficult to put together. Let me know if any of you decide to try them, I’d love to hear how it goes.

The other thing I want to do are these darling glitter easter eggs. Now I know it’s a wee bit early, but you can never plan too far ahead for a holiday. The instructions are on Martha Stewarts site (shocking). They are a no brainer but so beautiful. I’m excited to try these two things & I hope you are too! Enjoy. XOXO

By the way, we are experimenting with new site designs. How are you liking the current look? Is it too complicated or just right? I would love any feedback (good/bad) it helps me a lot. My job is to make Commander in Chic an easy read & accesible to all.

Sunday Funday

I woke up and went straight for the to-do list. I guess that’s my way of handling this whole long distance/winter situation. Here are a few things on my agenda for the day.

Make homemade sugar scrub (via Pinterest)

Buy ‘Matte About You’ nail polish

Write a letter to Elder Moon

Sit & hope the owner of that condo rings me

Prepare Mason Jar Salads for work

Finish all of my thank you cards

Pretend finishing all of my laundry today is realistic

Make a yummy holiday stove potpourri

Track some damn pumpkins down

Join the beautiful Kontgis family for Thanksgiving dinner this evening

Main goal: Don’t get distracted by my blog. I love you dolls, but I’m off to have a productive and positive Sunday Funday. One without any mimosas, beer, or bloody marys. I know, I know, why would I do that?? Because my horoscope knew best for Friday night, so I’ll go ahead and trust it… (read ‘wellness’) XOXO
