Dare to Begin

Today after work I went and did my third interview this week (that’s a lot for a rookie like me.) It was the best interview I have done so far; I can honestly say today was the day that it clicked, I understand why people love journalism.

As I was leaving we thanked each other & went to shake hands. I’m not sure what encouraged me to do this, maybe it’s all the time I’ve spent admiring those who did; Because instead, I chose to give her a hug & say “I’m a hug person.

She softly replied “Well I’m happy to hug you.

I wont always be a hug person — unfortunately there might be times where I may break that rule, but I’m at least going to try it out. I mean, how much damage can more hugs do? Ps. If you don’t want a hug you don’t have to have one:) I’m usually quite good at spotting I-like-my-bubble-respect-it-or-I’ll-glare-at-you people

You take away all the other luxuries in life, and if you can make someone smile and laugh, you have given the most special gift: happiness.” -Brad Garrett

My blog has been slightly ignored for a few days because I want to end this semester running. I haven’t done the best job this semester, but I can genuinely say I have been working my ass off since day one. My time & energy is being put towards work & my class blog, Rescue Me. I have ten articles due in three weeks — and I plan on having them done early.

Another reason I’ve been such a stranger is because I have also discovered a few sad things:

  • There is life after blogging (really, it should be “before blogging”..)
  • There is also life after mother-daughter time while we eat her homemade quiche & Cadbury eggs in the sun & talk about life. I know.. Shitty news right?

If I don’t work hard in school and in the office I will not have the luxury of blogging. Many forget that blogging/the internet is not a right it’s a luxury. If momma can’t pay the bills how the hell is she supposed to blog?….

My mother worked hard to provide for me; I now work hard for the things I want/need & will continue to. It’s what we (the Nielson family) do. Nothing tastes as sweet when it’s handed to you.

Think about it. How many luxuries do you take for granted every single day? We’ll chat soon sweets.

Meow Or Mac

Or this?…

I can’t even begin to tell you how long I have wanted a kitten for. It’s only gotten worse since we have moved & I started working from home. But my beloved macbooks touch keypad isn’t working anymore & I get bad headaches from staring at the small print on the screen for work all day long. I can either get a kitten & pay a $500 deposit (our townhomes require it) or buy an iMac, $1,199. I spend the majority of my time on my computer between work, school, & Commander in Chic. But I am also a huge animal lover & would love nothing more then rescuing a kitten who needs a home. What would you do?

Back In Business

Long time no talk, loves! Tomorrow is the first day I’ll be working from home. After over a week without internet, we are back in business. I feel so pathetic for missing it in such a short amount of time, but it is what it is. Scott & Leslie, Andys sister & brother in-law, were so kind & let me work from their home while we waited for internet here at our house. I almost had to drive down to SLC to work, so they made my life a lot easier by letting me work there temporarily.

This was on NYE. I genuinely enjoy opening bubbly for some reason (clearly). Needless to say, this is pretty close to how excited I was today when we got cable & internet. Some things simply call for celebration.

My ‘office’ is a nightmare, since that is where I have put boxes that are still packed & such. Eventually, with time & a lot of effort, I hope to flip my office & have it resemble this beautiful ‘Mommy cave’ from ‘Vanessa & Valentine’. It isn’t your average office, which is why I love it. We all need a little sass to keep us going during the day, which is exactly what the bits of cheetah print are doing for this room. I also love the orchid, they are my favorite flowers. I have the files/magazine organizers from ikea that she used in her office, so that gives me a little bit of hope. For now, I’m working with what I have. I will add things slowly but surely. I think that re-decorating a room is more fun during the hard work. I love the finished product but it’s always fun doing little odds & ends to make it exactly how you want it.

I also adore this office

Anyway, I need to get to sleep to prep for an early start tomorrow. Once I get back into the groove I will hopefully have more time to write (no promises, school starts on Wednesday).

All my love, Bee

You Need A Man, Not A Boy

I am reading glamour in bed & decided I had to share a tiny part of an article in here called, ‘You need a man, not a boy’ by Mindy Kaling (from The Office)

‘Men know what they want. Men own alarm clock. Men sleep on a mattress that isn’t on the floor. Men buy new shampoo instead of adding water to a nearly empty bottle of shampoo. Men make reservations. Men go in for a kiss without giving you some long preamble about how they’re thinking of kissing you. Men wear clothe have never been worn by anyone else before. Ok, maybe men aren’t exactly like this. But this is what I’ve cobbled together from the hanfdul of men I kow. The point: Men know what they want, and that is scary.’
