It’s How You See Yourself

“Your job is to see people as they really are, and to do this, you have to know who you are in the most compassionate possible sense. Then you can recognize others.” -Anne Lamott

Do you understand? Read it twice. Love every inch of yourself. Embrace every good part and every bad part about you — do it without making up excuses. Be humble. Be gentle. And then it will all begin to make sense.

Learning From Others

Well hi beautiful!! How are you on this delicious Wednesday? Really though, I want to know. This blog was created by me but inspired by you open up to me! We have some new readers this week & I am so happy you are here. Nothing like a new friend in the blogosphere to make my day. I don’t know about other blogs, but around here we are like a family — you can discuss things dear to your heart without being judged. I’m excited to hear from all of you:)

This morning I didn’t follow my regular routine; Instead, I got up at 7:00 & snuggled with Roman on the couch with the windows wide open. We watched the sunrise & I think it’s my new favorite thing! What’s better then rising with the sun? It was absolutely beautiful.

Today I’m focusing on doing a karma Cleanse, would you like to join me? There are 5 steps:

  • Be grateful
  • Act with love
  • Check your motives
  • Watch your attitude
  • Forgive

Last night I started thinking: Why do some women instantly act ugly when another beautiful woman walks in the room? You are both beautiful… Celebrate it together!! Empowered women can shake the world if we choose to do it together. I believe that it starts with being nice.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to hate someone because they have something you are working towards for yourself. Trust me honey, hating someone for their success doesn’t make your journey towards your personal success any easier. In fact, when you see someone that has the things you desire, look to them for advice! Do it your way, but get tips from others who have figured out what works for them. It might not work for you, but finding things you don’t enjoy often leads you to things that you loveJani tweeted this to me and I want to share it with you (follow her if you don’t already, she’s hilarious): “Indeed mentors often come dressed in the wardrobe you desire. #nohate

Just a bit of food for your thoughts this morning. It’s gorgeous outside here in Logan today and I feel too good to stay in & blog — I’ll do that when the sun goes down. Until then, follow this link to the last thing I am dying to share for the day. (I also went to my first Crossfit class this morning & I can’t wait to tell you about it!)

All my love, Bee

I love the simplicity of maxi skirts matched with denim. This is my favorite look right now especially for Spring. It’s easy, comfortable and not too done up. The only thing I might add for an evening look would be a pretty pink or coral lip like this or this. Women don’t need glitz and glamour all the time. Smile, be good to people, and the rest will take care of itself.

What’s your favorite look for this Spring?

Always Knew

“I always knew the woman I wanted to be—I knew I wanted to be a woman who was independent, a woman who was in the driving seat, a woman who didn’t need for the man to decide.”

Diane Von Furstenberg

I believe knowing who you are & what you want to become is a gift, an art, and one of life’s most beautiful & brutal lessons. Cheers, Mrs. Furstenberg

Will Knows

It’s Monday Morning & you probably don’t have much time to spare. But if you do, listen to this motivational video with Will Smith. I think he has done a fantastic job balancing his career and his family, which is something that is truly difficult to do even when you’re not a celebrity.

Another reason I love Will Smith? He celebrates his wife instead of acting like he is entitled to having her be his partner (need an example? go here) I don’t care who you are, whether you are a celebrity, CEO, or athlete, you still need to cherish and celebrate the brilliant people in your life. My belief is that if you aren’t being celebrated it is time to upgrade.

And… I’d feel wrong for not sharing these photos of their home that showcases their incredible taste. Can you say dream home?

Decisions Women Face

“Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you’re wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn’t love you anymore”

Web To Book

I have so many beautiful women in my life. Everyday I think to myself, ‘Really? Each of them seem to shine just a bit more then the day before.

One of those girls is the fabulous Elana. She and I think so much alike it’s crazy. I truly admire her inner & outer beauty. Elana has supported my passion for writing since day one. Often her ‘likes’ and comments make it all worth it. Earlier this week she gave me the idea to print out my favorite posts from Commander In Chic to compile a book. It would not be a book with chapters – I imagine it being something you would keep on your coffee table or desk.

I’d like it to be something you could grab for a quick dose of daily inspiration & self empowerment. This is something that is clearly in the beginning stages, but I think that picking the best posts on each anniversary of CIC would be perfect. So the first book would be called “Commander In Chic: One”

If you have a favorite post that hits close to home or inspired you more then usual I would love to hear about it. I will start compiling these posts and begin the creation of this book. Would it be something you would consider purchasing? March 20th will be ‘Commander In Chics’ birthday! This journey has been miraculous, and I would not have shared it with anyone but you. Thank you…

Ps. Check out Elana’s Photography – She does an incredible job & will bring the beauty you never knew existed to the surface.
