Going The Distance

“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the strong, because someday in your life, you will have been all of these.” -George Washington Carver (1864-1943); botanist, agricultural chemist, inventor, educator

How to be a better (happier and healthier) human being

“Never touch anything with half of your heart. Be present, endlessly loving and compassionate towards others. Confront any challenging situation first with a deep breath. Wander. Remember that your own happiness and comfort comes above all things. Before reacting—understand. Eat breakfast every morning. Find the faces in the flowers. Remember what is important to you. Treat your body kindly. Be honest. Get to know yourself. Take things at your own pace. Don’t feel embarrassed to feel, laugh, cry, sing or love. Remember that what’s right for someone else may not be what is right for you (and that’s okay). Never be ashamed or afraid to ask for help. Do what you love. Remember that you always have a choice. Find joy in what life really is—living.”

Learning to be at peace with this beautiful and messy world is the first step. Inhale pink, exhale grey and smile… You’re incredible.  XOXO

All that it wanted to be

On March 20th 2011 I embarked on a new adventure. During that adventure I sailed amid many incredible sunsets, found inspiration from every fish in the sea & experienced a handful of storms that forced me to just breathe & trust the wind. In the end I met you at the perfect little dock. I am proud to say that you are far from regular and I am so glad I’ve been given the chance to be graced by your love & light. Cheers to letting the first ocean we sailed together be all that it wanted to be & here’s to many more together.

1 year down sweets! Happy birthday baby blog! And thank you, I couldn’t have a better crew.

All my love, Bailey Mikell

Gems

I spent the evening with the love of my life. It was an odd day today, but a good day. I guess all I have to say is I am thankful for just one more day, one more second to express myself, to love others, to create. A friend of mine posted this song (a remake of one of my favorite songs) and I had to share because it simply makes me happy. Sweet sleeps, dreams that will turn to reality, and peace of mind is what I wish upon all of you gems this evening. Remember, every morning that you wake up you are given another chance to get it right. How spectacular is that?

Ciao bella…. XOXO

You Might Be

‘Her mind is full of situations that will never happen. But they do happen, in her mind, over and over again. All the worst case scenarios, the best case scenarios and every single scenario in between. She imagines unimaginable situations, conversations, happenings. In her mind everything is possible, even the impossible. Sometimes her brain is so busy calculating all the ‘what-ifs?’, it has no time to do anything else. She has such trouble forgetting about all the things that could possibly, or impossibly, go wrong. Almost compulsively she has hundreds of variables in her head of how past situations could have gone different. Some of them keep coming back, they haunt her, they taunt her. She tries to oversee everything, not just this moment, but the next one, and the next day, and the next week, and the next month. She tries to figure out all the possibilities, so out of all of them she can try to make the best one actually happen. One of the possibilities is, stranger, that you let go. I know it is difficult, but you might be happy.’

All Good Things Come To An End

Who says 20 somethings can’t pretend to know a thing or two about life? My opinion is we should always keep a handful of ready to plant seeds so you can breathe life into a beautiful new root. Goodnight my loves, I hope you’re all going to sleep with miraculous dreams & that you wake up with a purpose.
